Kendo
Kendo is the traditional Japanese art of fencing. Kendoka,
or students of kendo, practice in light armor using a shinai, or bamboo sword. Students practice footwork,
sword strikes, and defensive movements.
Kendo is more or less widely known as a sport, but by applying
the Ten Shin Ichi Ryu principles developed by Doshu Shintaku Sensei, students also cultivate a harmonious
mind and self-control.
Ten Shin Ichi Ryu training emphasizes the understandings
of energy flow and body control for efficient protection techniques.
Students and practitioners of kendo learn how to:
-
overcome conflict;
- develop quicker reflexes;
-
improve power of concentration;
-
develop peaceful ways to solve life problems;
-
establish harmonious relationships with others.
To learn Ten Shin Ichi Ryu kendo is to learn the way of harmony,
and to share that knowledge through martial arts training for the betterment of human lives.
